The California Supreme Court unanimously reversed an appeals court decision on May 15, deciding that 80-year-old Four Seasons singer Frankie Valli’s ex-wife Randy would not be eligible for the full amount of a life insurance policy taken out by Valli, San Jose Mercury News reported.
In the ruling penned by Justice Joyce Kennard, it was expressly stated that the singer never gave up his interest in the life insurance policy invested in with money shared between the then-married couple. The case was brought for deliberation to the high court to determine whether such an insurance policy could be declared the wife’s separate property in divorce proceedings or whether it should be considered community property–a distinction that had previously been unclear in California divorce law. According to celebrity news network TMZ, Randy Valli was already receiving $500,000 per month from her ex-husband, as stated by court documents in their divorce proceedings.
