L.A. Kings player charged with felony domestic violence

L.A. Kings defender Slava Voynov has been charged with one count of felony domestic violence following an incident in which he attacked his wife and left her with injuries, Reuters reported on Thursday, November 20.

The 24-year-old Russian player’s wife sustained injuries to the neck, cheek and eyebrows during a suspected domestic violence incident that took place at their Redondo Beach home on October 19. Voynov was arrested the following day while his wife was being treated at a Los Angeles area hospital.

Voynov’s legal counsel says his client is disappointed with the District Attorney’s decision to press charges against him, and is looking forward to proving his innocence in court. He is expected to appear in the Los Angeles Superior Court on December 1. Upon conviction, Voynov could face up to nine years in a state prison.
