A passenger died following a two vehicle collision on Highways 180 near San Benito Avenue Sunday night, according to a report by KRON news.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., a 2010 Nissan was traveling in the eastbound lane of Highway 180 when a 2003 Mitsubishi suddenly crossed the double yellow lines and crashed into the Nissan. The impact of the collision injured the Nissan driver and one of its occupants. They were rushed to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Another passenger, a 58-year-old San Jose resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as Ildo Correia.
Local authorities were called onto the scene to determine the cause of crash. Preliminary investigations show the driver of the Mitsubishi was intoxicated when the accident took place. He was then identified as 34-year-old Narciso Mejia.
