Petaluma man arrested over allegation of assaulting an elderly tenant

A Petaluma man was arrested on March 12 for allegedly hitting an elderly resident at the Vintage Chateau Senior Apartments, the Petaluma Patch reported.

The authorities found out about the alleged physical assault incident after a resident called the police about another tenant being beaten. 25-year-old Samuel John Hanavan, the victim’s cohabitant, was named as a suspect and was arrested in the Plaza North Shopping Center. He is now facing several charges, including elder abuse and domestic violence, and was booked in Sonoma County Jail with a bail of $200,000.

The victim, meanwhile, sustained serious physical injuries to the face and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
