A recent survey conducted by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) showed that 63% of divorce lawyers reported a surge in prenuptial agreements within the last three years.
The study revealed some surprising results, finding that, in 46% of the cases, the initiating spouse is the prospective wife. This is a large shift since, classically, prenuptial agreements have been a male-initiated contract.
AAML president, and HuffPost Divorce blogger, Alton Abramowitz observed that the increased demand for prenuptial agreements may reflect the current economy.
