Charges of domestic violence against Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy have been dropped after his accuser failed to show up for the hearing, ESPN reported on February 9.
A statement by the district attorney said the court is aware of an arrangement reached between Hardy and his accuser and ex-girlfriend, Nicole Holder. The district attorney also stated that the accuser intentionally did not show up in order to hinder the case. Last year, Greg Hardy was found guilty of assaulting and threatening his ex-girlfriend in a domestic violence incidence. The guilty verdict was set aside after he requested a trial on July 15.
Meanwhile, the National Football League said they will not change Hardy’s exempt status despite the dismissal of the charges until they are finished reviewing the case.
